Reborn

Note: the following article is about the generic feature that allows to return a card to lv1 in exchange for a permanent bonus. If you are looking for information on the resurrecting skill owned by some units, visit the Reborn (skill) page.

This symbol denotes a task (mini-event, quest...) which involves Reborn

Reborn feature unlocks at League 23. At certain levels you can reborn your cards. Reborning resets them to level 1, but they start with a permanent bonus. Every card can be reborned multiple times, exact amount depending on rarity tier: commons and rares can be reborn four times (at levels 11, 16, 21 and 26) while epics and legendaries can be reborn five times (at levels 6, 11, 16, 21 and 26). For the exact effects, see the individual card in question.

When using reborn you keep the extra cards not used, e.g: you have a lvl 11 Naga with 500 extra cards, after the reborn you will still have those 500 cards.

Total cost of Reborn

You can look at reborn as another way to level up your card. You have to include cost of leveling up your card back to the point of reborn. So the real cost of reborn depends on card rarity and reborn tier. Here are calculated costs of reborn for each rarity and tier.

Reborn lv 6 Reborn lv 11 Reborn lv 16 Reborn lv 21 Reborn lv 26
Common - 1950 cards + 8750 gold 6700 cards + 49750 gold 25400 cards + 159750 gold 87400 cards + 362750 gold
Rare - 1530 cards + 23800 gold 4750 cards + 83800 gold 17150 cards + 209800 gold 55150 cards + 435800 gold
Epic 230 cards + 5100 gold 950 cards + 29600 gold 3070 cards + 97600 gold 10520 cards + 246700 gold 36820 cards + 511600 gold
Legendary 90 cards + 7300 gold 600 cards + 43300 gold 2270 cards + 146300 gold 7820 cards + 346300 gold 27420 cards + 660300 gold

Pros & Cons

Pros

A reborned card will acquire a permanent bonus (their quality raising with reborn tier), usually consisting in:

  • Common cards: +HP and +ATK
  • Rare cards: +HP and +ATK, plus the chance to permanently unlock one from level 1
    • R3 usually gives the chance to permanently unlock one of their skills right from lv1. This unlocked skill isn't a wholly new one, but simply one of those that they would've earned at lv6 or lv11
  • Epic cards: alternatively +HP and +ATK, and one of these stats plus a skill
    • R1, R3 and R5 boost a unit's stats
    • R2 and R4 boost one of unit's stats and a skill
  • Legendary cards: +HP and +ATK are granted, boost to skills are relatively frequent. Spotting a common pattern is harder, but on general:
    • there's a stat boost at each reborn tier
    • there's a skill boost at each reborn tier past R1 as well. In case there are three upgradeable skills, then R1 improves one of them as well
    • in particular, almost all summoners will see an improvement on their minions, which means they will both unlock higher levels and even their cap earlier

plus the following increasing in might, depending on rarity tiers:

lv6 lv11 lv16 lv21 lv26
Common - +100 +150 +250 +500
Rare - +150 +250 +400 +700
Epic +150 +200 +350 +600 +1000
Legendary +200 +350 +650 +1200 +1700

Cons

On the other hand, even if it doesn't require particular resources, it'll permanently remove from user account the amount of cards used till that point (see Total cost of reborn), so it's advisable to do it only when you're sure you can reach again stats comparable to pre-reborn ones, or that a skill boost can make up for that eventual loss. Note also that Reborn Mini-Events can partially mitigate this situation.

Even if this was the case with previous builds, as of 27 October 2020 Update no card will unlock new skills with Reborns.

Using reborn at higher level

When the card you use reborn on is at higher level than required to Reborn, your card is still reset to level 1, but you get cards used to level up your card beyond the requirement back. On the other hand, Gold coins are permanently lost.

Example: you have levelled your Vampire up to level 13 and then decide to reborn it. Now your Vampire is reset to level 1, gets reborn bonus, and you get back the 600 + 750 = 1350 cards you used to level up beyond lvl 11. On the other hand, the 2550 Gold coin and 3300 Gold coin spent for those further levels are lost.

Reborn mini-events

Some mini-events involve reborning cards: these go by classes (ie: Chaos melee, Order ranged...) and allow you to earn back part (10 or 14%, depending on your league) of the souls used to level up your unit till the Reborn point.

Example: you level up your Vampire to level 13 and then decide to reborn it, as above - but this time while the Mini-event Chaos melee is active. Now your Vampire is reset to level 1, gets reborn bonus, and you get back the whole (600 + 750) cards you used to level up beyond lvl 11 plus 10% of the 1950 cards needed to level it till lv11, so 600 + 750 + 195 = 1545 cards.

Possible bug

A bug may take place when you reborn cards involved with other soulbinded to that: if the bonus that soulbind provides is gone, simply refresh the game for that bonus to show up again.

Example: you soulbind your Void Juggler to Evil's Helper for +3 ATK, then decide to reborn Evil's Helper. The +3 bonus on Void Juggler may temporarily disappear, but it will appear again after having refreshed the game.
