Special skills

This page collects all the skills which aren't picked by any in-game filter (for the ones available in the filters, see Skills and Abilities). Usually they are unique to a certain unit or family, and more often the reason of their success among players.

Accuracy

This icon denotes the presence of the "Accuracy" skill on a unit

This skill allows the unit to be able to hit enemies with Evasion skill, that would usually elude their attacks. It also makes them immune to Miss skill.

Currently unique to Mina from the Hellsing family.

Counter Attack

This icon denotes the presence of the "Counter Attack" skill on a unit

This skill allows the unit to perform one retaliatory attack when Attacked - but only if the attack comes from a melee unit, and the unit with Counter Attack ability survives after being Attacked.

The Counter Attack instance is counted as an attack, thus it can be affected by Miss, trigger "Attacks:" abilities on the unit performing the Counter Attack, and "Attacked" abilities on the unit being Counter Attacked. Counter Attack, however, will not trigger another Counter Attack. It will also miss against a flying attacker as a normal attack would.

Counter Attack instance does not trigger "Before ally/enemy attacks" abilities and it's triggered even if the attacking enemy is equipped with Immunity.

Currently, only melee units can possess or acquire this ability.

These units are equipped with the skill themselves.

Currently all units with this skill are Melee units.

Destroy Powerups

This icon denotes the presence of the "Destroy Powerups" skill on a unit

A side variation of Cleanse, this skill allows the unit to prune all Runes and Pentagrams on a certain part of the field when certain conditions are fulfilled. Particularly useful in case of deprecative Powerups, it may be counter-productive in case of supportive ones.

Currently unique to Evil Slayer from the Hellsing family.

Instant Kill

This icon denotes the presence of the "Instant Kill" skill on a unit
This skill allows to immediately kill one (or more) enemy unit when specific conditions are met. Albeit very powerful, it needs to be used with a bit of a planning, since it won't spare the player from triggering units' Death procs.

If a unit instantly kills another one but absorbs some of their stats in the process, it's listed under the Sacrifice category.

It's worth noting that:

  • it does not have any effect on units with Immunity skill
  • it does not trigger "Kill:" abilities, notably with legendary Pet like Princess Gleedy and Rockstar.
  • in case of units equipped with Mental Shield, the only effect will be to remove the Shield
  • depending on the situation Transform may be another valid (possibly better) option, especially in case of units with Mental Shield or Death procs
  • all units equipped with Sacrifice skill automatically possess Instant Kill too

Invulnerability

This icon denotes the presence of the "Invulnerability" skill on a unit

Also known as "Invincibility" starting from Sex, Lies & Apes event. A particular type of Block, this skills allows a unit to completely negate a certain type of attacks coming from the enemy.

Currently unique to Snake from the Lizard family.

Miss

This icon denotes the presence of the "Miss" skill on a unit

This skill causes a unit to miss their target (Warlord included) during an attack phase - meaning in case of a multi-attacker unit, all the attacks will miss. When sticked to a unit it lasts 1 turn and it's a deprecative skill, so it's applied to enemy units - meaning that only Miss Granters exist. On the other hand, it can be cleansed.

Currently all units with this skill are Order units.

Possession

This icon denotes the presence of the "Possession" skill on a unit.

This skill allows a unit to take control of an enemy's unit. Exclusive to the Scarecrow family, it's a deprecative skill, so it's applied to enemy units - meaning that only Possession Granters exist. It's worth noting that it cannot be cleansed but it can still be removed through Silence.

Affected units will then carry on further two deprecating skills on their own when the main possessor has died:

  • they will self-inflict Damage each time they attack
  • when dead, they will Summon further units.

Currently all units with this skill are Chaos Melee units.

Purify / Cleanse

This icon denotes the presence of the "Purify" skill on a unit

This skill allows a unit to remove debuffs applied on self or allies. Further details about which skills can be cleansed and which not are in the notes below.

Currently all units with this skill can only purify allies - meaning that a further instance would be needed to eventually cleanse each other.

Notes about purified skills:

  • Bleed is cleansed by removing it from affected unit
  • Damage granting (or at least the deprecative version, like in Loath's case) is simply removed
  • Debuff is cleansed by reinstating the original ATK value
  • Freeze is cleansed by removing the stale from affected units
  • Miss is cleansed by removing it from affected units
  • Poison is cleansed by removing it from affected unit, while leaving it at the current HP value
  • Set HP (and possibly set ATK too) is cleansed by leaving the affected unit at currently-set HP (either 1 or 5, see below), but reinstating the old maximum, leaving room for Heal
  • Steal is cleansed by reinstating the previous ATK value, but leaving the current one on the enemy that stole it
  • Toxin is cleansed by removing the deprecative skill and reinstating the original ATK value

It's worth noting that the skill doesn't work on:

  • units with the Immunity skill (though obviously they won't be affected by anything to cleanse in the first place)
  • Silence effect won't be removed
  • Possession effect won't be removed

Reflection

This icon denotes the presence of the "Reflection" skill on a unit

Due to this skill, every time the unit is attacked, the enemy Warlord will receive damage equal to the attacking units Attack after the attack is done. It's worth noting that units with Attack Boost (like Bully, Diana and Queen Ananta) attacking a Reflecting unit will have a bigger impact since Reflect damage is triggered after +ATK. It's also worth noting that in case a unit equipped with both Reflection and Mental Shield skills gets hit, incoming damage will still get reflected even if unit will exit unscathed.

Currently all units with this skill are Nature Building units and automatically fulfill Attacked and Damage conditions as well. Starting with 21 March 2019 Update, even units with Immunity will trigger this skill.

Sacrifice

This icon denotes the presence of the "Sacrifice" skill on a unit

This skill allows a unit to absorb into themselves all the HP and/or ATK owned by other units, adding them up to its own pool.

Said units will therefore be killed, sort-of "offered in sacrifice" in exchange for the caster to earn more power.

This will also trigger any on death effects of the sacrificed units.

All units with Sacrifice skill are currently Legendary tier and automatically fulfill "Instant Kill" condition as well.

(*) Mizu sacrifices all Seahorses in front of her regardless of distance and in a certain order, so:

  • in case Mizu has 2 Seahorses in front of her, she will earn stats from both of them
  • in case there are 2 Mizus and one Seahorse in front of them, only the frontal one will earn stats

Set ATK

This icon denotes the presence of the "Set ATK" effect on a unit

This skill allows a unit to overwrite the current ATK value of other ones (excluding those with Immunity skill), and forcefully imposing a specific value on them, even if already affected by other Set ATK skills. On the other hand, it can be cleansed. It can be seen as a particular version of Debuff which gives a static final value, rather than deducting points.

Its permanent version is currently unique to Tengu and it's the reason of its wide diffusion.

Set HP

This icon denotes the presence of the "Set HP" effect on a unit

This skill allows a unit to overwrite the current max HP value of their enemies (excluding those with Immunity skill), and forcefully imposing a specific value on them, even if already affected by other Set HP skills. On the other hand, it can be cleansed - even if with some drawbacks.

Worth noting is that this will cause the unit to be considered at full health regardless of how much HP they effectively lost or, in rare cases, gained because of this effect.

The "Set HP = 1" version is exclusive to Frost, Jimmy and members of the Butcher family, while the "Set HP = 5" version is exclusive to Blair.

Swap Stats

This icon denotes the presence of the "Swap Stats" effect on a unit

This skill allows to swap ATK and HP values of certain units (even multiple times), when specific conditions are met. If units with 0 ATK happen to have their stats swapped, they die immediately. It doesn't target buildings though - since they don't have a second stat to swap.

Exclusive to members of the Elf and Jester families, the former apply it on allies, while the latter affect enemies.

Toxin

This icon denotes the presence of the "Toxin" effect on a unit

This skill makes it so that an attacking unit loses a certain amount of ATK after every attack. Such amount is calculated as a fixed percentage of current ATK value (rounded down, meaning it can never reduce ATK to 0).

Currently, only two values exist: 25% and 50% (barred Reborn effects).

It's a deprecative skill that sticks to units on opponent's side, but cannot be combined - ie: multiple instances of Toxin skill cannot be stacked in a bigger one, though a higher value can overwrite a lower one. On the other hand, it can be cleansed. It can be seen as a particular type of Debuff which works on percentage of initial value, rather than deducting static ones.

Most forms of this skill exclude buildings as valid targets as they don't have ATK values in the first place and never attack directly - so it would have no effect even if they were hit by Toxin.

Exclusive to members of the Scorpion and the Angler Fish families.

Toxin Granters

These units will give other allies the chance to use the skill.

Currently unique to The Scorpion Queen and Io, Lord of Orgasm - a Boss from Pit Rotation 3.

Transform

This icon denotes the presence of the "Transform" effect on a unit

A side version of Summon, this skill allows the caster to replace an enemy unit on board with another one, making it lose all the original features (including ATK and HP) on the process; this new unit is a static one that will basically act as a placeholder.

Until Forest Hump event it was unique to members of Santa family, especially given the Christmas theme. With the introduction of other Transforming units, every race has a specific minion.
